Olle M. Wastberg, Communication Consultant, Writer, and Diplomat, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in International Relations.

Mr. Wastberg is an accomplished diplomat, named 2003 Swedish Man of the Year by the city of New York and awarded the 2013 His Majesty the King’s Medal and the 2013 Karl Staaf Liberal Gold Medal in his native Sweden. From 1999 to 2004, Mr. Wastberg was the consul-general of the country of Sweden in New York City, and advocated for his country’s interests as a member of numerous cultural and government groups in the city and in Sweden. He has been presented with a Marquis Who’s Who Humanitarian Award and the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, and has appeared in the pages of Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, and Who’s Who in the World.

Born in Stockholm, Sweden to Erik and Greta Wastberg, Mr. Wastberg was a prominent member of Liberal Youth Sweden and later a director of the board of the Swedish Liberal Party. He attended the University of Stockholm, where he taught as a political science instructor, and later entered journalism with the political department of Expressen. He was elected to the Swedish Parliament from 1976 to 1982 and served on the board of the Stockholm Stock Exchange from 1979 to 1983. In the early ‘90s, Mr. Wastberg worked with the Swedish Ministry of Finance, and continued with Expressen and as board president of the Swedish Broadcasting Corporation. Not long after, he was appointed as consul-general in New York. Mr. Wastberg served in the Swedish military as head of Swedish Psychological Defense.

Mr. Wastberg continues to support the Governments Committee on Public Service, the Raoul Wallenberg Academy, Industricentralen Inc., and the Isaak Hirsch Foundation. He is the president of the Southwest Fund and holds a seat with the governor’s globalization board of the Sweden American Foundation. He is the author of several books on African problems, immigration, and economics. Mr. Wastberg is the proud father of David and Elias with his wife, Inger Claesson, whom he married in 1968.
